海马（ Seahorses / HIPPOCAMPUS）

海马，别名水马、马头鱼、龙落子鱼。有着象马的脑袋，却没有马一般的速度--这就是海马。海马是一种鱼，它用鳃呼吸，有脊椎骨，生活在热带水域中。它们用尾巴缠在海藻上，懒洋洋的一动不动，一副国际象棋子儿中卫兵的模样。海马没有腹鳍和尾鳍，只有一个非常小的背鳍和胸鳍，海马依靠小的背鳍来推动水流，向前游动，依靠胸鳍来掌握方向。海马通常喜欢生活在珊瑚礁的缓流中，因为它们不善于游水，故而经常用它那适宜抓握的尾部紧紧勾勒住珊瑚的枝节、海藻的叶片上，将身体固定，以使不被激流冲走。每年的5月—8月是海马的繁殖期，这期间海马妈妈把卵产在海马爸爸腹部的育儿袋中，卵经过50—60天，幼鱼就会从海马爸爸的育儿袋中生出，所以说是海马爸爸负责育儿，而不是真的由爸爸生小孩，爸爸的育儿袋只是起到了孵化器的作用，卵还是来源于妈妈。
