Livings things have basic needs, what are their basic needs?

Basic Needs of Humans

Humans need food, water, air and shelter to stay alive. They need food to grow, to get stay healthy and energy. They also need a balanced diet in their food. These are they basic needs.

Humans also need shelter to protect themselves from danger, the sun and the rain. There are different types of shelters: longhouse, hut, terrace house, flat and bungalow.


Longhouse:
Is the traditional dwelling place of the native peoples of Borneo. A longhouse is like a single floor apartment building on stilts. Each family gets a room and the whole village shares a longhouse.




Basic Needs of Animals

Animals need to eat and drink to help them grow and stay healthy. They also need shelters to protect them from the danger, rain and sun. There are different types of shelters for animals: cave, nest, hole, water, soil. (Some animals are not safe to be touched)

Basic Needs of Plants.

Plants need sunlight, air to stay alive. No enough water, the plant will wilt and die.
Plants make food in their leaves. They need below several things to make their own food.



1) Chlorophyll – a green pigment found in the leaves of plants.
2) Light - natural sunlight or artificial light.
3) Carbon dioxide (CO2) - one of the gases people and animals breathe out.
4) Water - which the plant collects through its roots
5) Nutrients and minerals - the plant collects from the soil through its roots.



Chlorophyll can make food, the plant can use from carbon dioxide, water, nutrients, and energy from sunlight. This process is called photosynthesis.

During the process of photosynthesis, plants release oxygen into the air. People and animals need oxygen to breathe.
